Bonjour!
November 20th, 2008I finally made it to Paris this morning, and thankfully the flight to Dublin had very few people and I was able to grab a center row of four seats and make it into a bed for a few hours. It is a little cold here, so I think I may need to get a little something extra to wear. It doesn’t seem to be as bad as Boston was though, I had to transfer terminals there (and almost missed my flight) and it was freezing out. Needless to say I’m excited if not a little tired to be here even if it is a little colder than expected.

Hey Scott, Wow, this brings back memories of when your dad and I lived in Brussels, and would travel to Paris for the weekend. We usually stayed in Reims, as Paris was very expensive for us at the time. There was a small church not far from Notre Dame that had incredible stained glass-can’t remember the name. Wish we’d had digital cameras in those days! Anyways, have a WONDERFUL time in Paris! Love, Mom

I believe your mom was referring to Sainte-Chapelle, looks like you may have been there too? (unless you missed actually going into the tiny cathedral). It is supposed to be some of the “best stained glass” in Europe. It is quite amazing.

Looks like you are having a great trip so far, been checking the Flickr page a lot. Looking forward to seeing many more photos!
Cheers,

Yea I went there on Saturday, it was very cool, my pictures don’t do it justice. So far I have only been showing some of the best pictures but I have about 1600 taken so far and 1000+ uploaded, am I showing enough or should I open the flood gates? Also its been a little tough to get the pictures I’ve taken up soon after I take them because of the volume combined with slow upload speed. I’m still uploading pictures from Versailles… and I was there Friday.

Stacy is right about the small chapel and Sainte-Chapelle. I didn’t see any round stained glass windows telling the stories as on the link Stacy provided. I just remember being in total awe of this chapel. I enjoyed reading about how the stained glass has been protected over the past 400 years. Thank you, Stacy!
